Type Locality and Naming
“Carboniferous formations are divided into members, each having a code from A to F, with A being the oldest and F the youngest” (USGS-Klett, 2000, summary). [NOTE: For clarity and to separate from the “F2” etc. set of Devonian, then the prefix “Carb-“ is added to this Lexicon.]

Lithology and Thickness
It is made up of carbonates and evaporites deposition with intercalated sandstones, divided into two members: the lower member is made up of gypsiferous claystone with beds of limestone, marl and calcarenite while the upper one comprises dolostones, limestones and calcarenites (Benvegnù, 2020).
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It conformably overlies the Carb-D-E Fm.
Upper contact
It is unconformably overlain by the Zarzaitine Inferieur Fm. Entire Permian is absent.
